Building Black Bed-Stuy (also known as BBB) is a community organization that aims to protect and preserve the legacy of Bedford-Stuyvesant, a historically black neighborhood beaming with life and a rich culture.
In Bed-Stuy, retail rents threaten local businesses that serve as the backbone to the long-standing life and history of the neighborhood. The importance of allowing small businesses to thrive financially and gain economic independence continues to be the driving force behind BBB. The organization creates a network for Black and Brown artisans to connect with each other and the community during weekly marketplaces.
Along with weekly summer markets, BBB organizes monthly block parties and community forums that bring both long-time and new residents together. As the evolution of Bed-Stuy continues, BBB provides a crucial safe space that embraces togetherness and growth.
